
Located in Southern Ghana and protecting an area of 607km², this tropical Guinea Rainforest offers possibly the best rainforest bird viewing anywhere in Africa. The World famous Kakum Canopy Walkway, which is unique in this part of the World, offers a perfect base to view birds and also allows you to view rarely seen Canopy dwelling species at close range. Even if not viewing birds, the Canopy, which, consists of walkways and platforms attached to 7 emerging trees, 40 meters above the forest floor is a truly unforgettable experience.

Kakum is home to an impressive number of mammals over 40 species recorded, which, include Forest Elephant, Leopard, Mona Monkey, Spotnosed Monkey, Diana Monkey, Black and White Colobus and Olive Colobus Monkeys, Flying Squirrels, Giant Forest Hog, Bongo, Antelopes, six types of Duiker, over 300 species of bird and 600 species of Butterfly have been recorded to mention just a few. A visit to Kakum to walk the Canopy or some of the many trails within this truly beautiful Rainforest is an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed.
