Wildlife & Safari tours of Ghana

Bui National Park

Home of Ghana’s largest population of Hippopotami, this rarely visited, remote National Park surrounds the Black Volta River and protects an area of 1821km² of hilly, woodlands and valleys. An excursion to Bui National Park is one of the finest Wildlife experiences in Ghana. Imagine riding the Black Volta River and viewing Ghana’s Hippos in a dugout Canoe or sleeping above one of the many Hippo pools in a Hippo hide, watching these beautiful creatures emerge from the river in the evenings to feed. This is an experience not to be missed.

Bui also protects other mammals, such as Patas Monkey, Green Monkey, Roan Antelope, Waterbuck, Kob, Hartebeest, Bushbuck and a Warthog to mention just a few. Bird viewing is particularly productive with several hundred species recorded. Crocodiles also reside in the river.

You can camp within the park or stay at one of the hides, or if this does not appeal, there is a guesthouse accommodation or you can accept the exceptional hospitality from one of the many village families with a homestay. Whichever you choose, you will leave Bui having experienced the wonderful wildlife and culture of this exceptional place.
